being at the LCCT and in an Airasia plane for the first time wasn't that bad as I expected.
When I first stepped into the LCCT, I was a bit shocked at the sight.. I was shocked to see the arrival hall that didn't really look like an arrival hall at all. The toilet was not good. I went to the toilet in front of the Old Town White Coffee shop (I guess that's the name). And I guess because it's a bit on the "outside" so more people used the toilet there and it's not very clean in there. I went in to the departure hall and it's alright. There's another toilet there but I didn't go that one.
I have web checked in before I reached the airport. I thought I could drop my luggage at something like the self-drop-luggage counter but I was told that that doesn't apply for flights to Australia and the UK. So I have to queue up like those manual check in's but I was on the "premium" line coz I have web checked in. Sounds premium but the manual line was much faster. But when that person in the premium counter was changed, the line went faster. So I guess it was that person's problem. But nevermind about that.
The line I was waiting in.
So, I didn't bring my own water and food. I was told by the security people that I could buy food and drinks after the security check point and bring them up for consumption on the plane. I bought 2 bottles of water at RM4.80 each at Dunkin Donuts... only to know that another shop is selling RM1.50 per bottle. This shop was downstairs, beside Maybank. Yeah I know I wasted quite a bit there but it's alright. I just didn't know about that.
I bought another 3 more bottles for RM1.50 each.
Walking to the plane.
It was my first time stepping out of a terminal building to go up to a plane. I was excited. But it was not all that good because it was kinda hot.
The plane was not as bad as I thought it would be. No black leathered seat like many claimed but cushioned. I think black leathered seats are for planes flying to Australia?
Extra space for me. I was wearing a denim skirt.
Sitting maximum to the left, I had a bit of space left on my right. There's a generous amount of leg room too. But then again, I'm only 155cm so it's alright for me. There were many whites on the plane. About 85 over per cent. I'm not being racist. Just saying like this because not all were British coz many of them went to the non-UK-passport-holders area. And averagely the whites have larger body frame and are very tall too.
My leg room.
So yeah, many of them had no leg room at all especially for the guys. It's like 5mm away or even touching the seat in front.
For my record:
I'm watching 'The British Family: Our history'
Info --> Sex: Kirsty Young explores the impact of the sexual revolution. She charts the explosion of sexual imagery in the 1970s and recalls the Women's Movement. Contains adult themes.
That's actually the moon. Full moon. Could clearly see it although it's day time because we were above the clouds. It was so damn bright. It is the bigger dot in this picture. And it's not that clear because of the cam.
I could recline my seat. Quite a generous amount. It's about the same amount as MAS. I didn't have much rest though, I dunno why. Well, the last time I didn't get much rest on MAS too. Just slept the entire journey while flying back and even missed tea time. Nevermind about that.
Landing card compulsory for all non-UK-passport holders in any airlines.
The entire journey was 14hours, 2 hours more than MAS. The first meal was one hour after taking off, and the second meal was.. maybe 2-3 ours before landing? So there's a good amount of time in between and many people ordered snacks. The most value-for-money snack, i think, would be the cup noodles for RM6. It fills the stomach and it's really nice to have something hot in a long and cold journey. Just make sure to have the cup filled with hot water until about 1cm away from the top. It won't taste like it's diluted, and you won't be wanting to have more water after eating due to the seasoning powder that would have otherwise make you very thirsty.
Outside was kinda bright because of the bright bright moon light. At that time I was thinking of how in the ancient times people relied on the moonlight for many things. I could also see a big dipper. It was fantastic I was totally awed by it. I was like, 'hey, isn't that the type of stars I used to study about in Primary 6? I recognise that star!! IT IS THAT STAR!!'. And I was just staring and staring at it. Ok, very long for a caption.
If you want to order sandwiches or any bread-like food, maybe you should order it early because it's a long haul flight and probably there wouldn't be any more left towards the end or even halfway through the journey. It was about 6-8 hours since taking off and there wasn't any sandwiches or the bread I wanted to have (RM10) except for some hot dogs (RM9) which I thought was not value for money because of its size.
Nasi Lemak for RM12.
The flight attendants were okay. Not fantastic. Just okay. Like usual, some were friendly, some were not at all. It's the same for MAS. I'm okay with it.There is no "personal-aircond" in this plane. It's like a centralised aircond so, really, you have to bring your own sweater and maybe scarf as well to keep warm. Girls might need up to two sweaters. Well, unless you want to buy the airasia comfort kit.
For my record:
I'm eating Kit Kat Senses. Without biting it coz I don't really wanna dirty my teeth. Just sucking to soften it and let it melts down my throat. It is reaally gooood. I'm quite paranoid of having stains on my teeth. I would use the hook-like thingy that dentists use to remove the stains but there are some I couldn't remove.
It would be good to book a seat instead of allowing airasia to randomly pick for you. Well, unless you really don't mind coz as for me I would love having the window seat and I always see those people who sit in the middle trying to look out the window but can't really see anything and that's so sad. Booking a seat is RM 25 one way. That is RM50 for me for a return flight.
A window seat allows you to see a city at night like this =)) It's like a spider web. It's really fanstastic. I didn't have a good cam or else this would be a good pic. This is about an hour before landing. Maybe Paris over here?
When we could leave the plane, we didn't have to walk outside the plane like how we had to when we boarded the plane. The plane was connected to the terminal building straight away. Then there was a transit to go to the main building.
Next transit 4 minutes
By the time I checked out, it was about 11pm and many shops were closed in the airport. Of course there were a few which were open. Food is always available in the airport 24/7.
SPAR - where I bought my food. A Meal Deal of £2.59 (if I remember correctly) that includes a bottle of carbonated drink, a normal box of sandwiches, and a small packet of crisps.
I had to sleep in the airport because my train was at about 9.45am the next day. It was hard to find a place by then because it was late and many people had occupied the seats. It's like 4 seats to 1 person for sleeping. There were many people sleeping on the floor. I tried to find a place where it's not so near the exit so that I wouldn't feel the cold air when someone opens the door. It could be very very cold. I found myself a place which was good because it was empty and there were two benches. After I got myself 1 bench, the other bench was occupied after a while, then more people came in to sleep around the floor because I suppose there were not enough space out there.
My luggage with stickers that attracted many kids and people sleeping on the floor around me.
For my record: I've just finished about 1.5bars of Kit Kat Senses and the top of my mouth feels funny coz I've sucked too much and it's like being scratched.
Overall, the journey was okay. Of course there were bumpy rides but that's normal. Landing was okay, just a bit of jerk as the plane touch down, but that's perfectly fine.
The flight was value for money. The only thing I missed was the free flow of orange juice that I could have if I had taken MAS. Although it's not expensive orange juice (if I'm not mistaken, they use JOY), free flow of drinks is very important because airplane air is very very dry. Of course you can survive without it, but it would be better with it.
I would recommend airasia if it's the cheapest at that point of time. Sometimes the price is just maybe a BIT lower than other non-budget airlines. If that's the case, I would go for the other airlines.
